We decided to take the girls on a mini-vacation this year. Up to this point the longest amount of time Brookie had been in a car was an hour, which is what it takes to get to Grandma & Grandpa's house. So we thought we would keep the trip in state. Since neither Mom nor Dad had been up north to see the sand dunes off of Lake Michigan, we decided that would be a good place to go and would only take about 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get there. We had a pretty good time. The weather was nice and not too hot. The girls got to go swimming for the first time. Grandpa will have to tell us what kind of fish the guy below caught. That was the second one he pulled-in in less than an hour. On the way home, we decided to stop in and tour the Fair Oaks Dairy Farm since it was on the way.

Brooklyn's First Birthday!!
We celebrated Brookie's 1st birthday (only a couple of days early) today with a little party. As you can see below, she loved her cake and was not shy about shoveling it in. Luckily, she is not going to be anything like her big sister when it comes to food. So far, we haven't found too much that she doesn't like. It's quite possible that she already eats more "big people" food than Rylie does.

Pole Day 2011 at IMS
Today was Pole Day at the speedway. It was probably the best one we've seen. High speeds, bumping, rain, and a great battle for the fast 9 with fuel shortages and an unfamiliar driver taking the pole. Big multi-car teams struggled while small teams surprised with top speeds. Alex Tagliani took the pole, while Danica and Marco, two regulars, had to wait until Sunday to try and make the field. Thanks Grandma for coming up and watching the girls so we could go!!!
